XP Whistler Version
Just took in a computer for reinstall. It is a Pavilion 751n with a 1.8 Ghz and DDR Memory, 80 gig drive. It has whistler version on it and that seems odd to me. Wasn't that an older version that was used long before 1.8 processors were out? Please answer that as question one of two.
Second question is this. I don't have Whistler version that i know of. The product key is on the computer case and if I do use a XP Home CD that I have which is newer than Whistler is this product key going to work? Thanks, Alan |

Whistler was XP's code name prior to it's official release.

Whistler was the code name for Windows XP during its development and was never a finished product. Whistler eventually became Windows XP.
So if you really have "Whistler" installed then it's some kind of a Beta. RJ

It's kinda like how we refer to the new pending Windows 64-bit OS as "Longhorn" - it'll probably be named somewhere along the lines of "Windows ______"
