Can't use add/remove programs...

I'm using Windows XP Pro. When I go to Add/Remove programs there is either nothing listed, or when I try to remove something a window pops up to prompt me to remove the program, and then immediately disappears.

I have run Norton and I have no viruses, and I have used sfc. Any ideas guys? Thanks

How many OS's are on the computer?

Any error messages? Have you used Windows Update recently?

This may help:

No error messages. I just ran Windows Update.

I have hopefully cleaned out all of my Trojans and Spyware/Adware etc. using Ad-Aware and The Cleaner Professional. Still no luck. Any other suggestions?
