huge problem
ok. i had a windows xp pro install then i got a new vid card and it said i had 2 activate it cuz of that... so i typed in the key and it says "according to our records the key has been used too many times" . so i just waited til the 30 days were over. i reinstalled xp pro cuz it wouldnt let me boot, and i bought a new key. damn u microsoft. so now the 2nd xp pro is working and the first one gives me an error: logon failure stop error. i think i deleted the winlogon file accidently...does anyone knwo how 2 fix this? thanks

See if the instructions in the MS KB article, How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP give you access to the folders and files you need.

this is a guess on a fix for the first os.
maybe someone with more knowledge can confirm or just say it won't work. what about a repair install. if that would work (and i would not want you to do it till someone else says it would work) you need to be ready with a different and valid (legal) xp key. |

Why didn't you just call MS to reactivate the original install? With an explanation of what you did, they would have given you a code. They aren't totally inflexible, it's just the online activation only works once every 120 days.
