Question Small XP visual problem...

I just can't fix this visual problem!
It suppose to display clear and transparent font on my destop's icon after I checked the effect option of "smooth edges of screen font>clear type" under the display properties.
But instead it gives me highlighted type icon on my desktop.I've tried restarting my machine but it still remain the same.
Any other tweaks I can perform?

Clear type is an anti-aliaser. It anti-aliases your font, that's it.

If you want transparent font then you need to download the necessary tools from the internet, as XP does not natively support it.

Thanks but maybe because I didn't know how to explain it..
Anyway it does have the clear font before but now it was like font+desktop colour for each icons or shortcut.

Ah, that is what you mean.

Rightclick on "My Computer", select "Properties". Go to the "Advanced" tab, click on the "Settings" button in the "system performance" box (the top one) and check the checkbox "transparent color for icon fonts on desktop" (or something like that).

The one you want is "Use Drop Shadows for Icon Labels on Desktop".
