dual boot vista + xp problem

I split my drive into two partitions, installed vista on one and then installed xp on the other. I had a problem getting into vista again after installing xp, but I booted from the vista dvd and repaired the boot something which allows me to get into vista now.

Then... I set up dual boot with EasyBCD and vista works fine, but XP won't load. It can't find file /ntldr (NT loader?) and I'm thinking it's because of the boot repair I did. Anybody know what I need to do, hopefully without installing the OS' again? I'd rather have vista first on my drive and xp second.

i have a dual boot setup with xp pro and vista. i installed xp on the first and then vista on the second. i believe you need to install the older (xp) os first before the newer one (vista).

Yeah, that's what I am trying to avoid. I may do that if I can't find another solution. It seems to me that there should be a way to install XP after Vista, and still dual boot properly.

why does it matter which order you install Vista...

You always have to install the older OS first....thats just the way it is..

If you are wanting to change the boot order so that it defaults to booting into XP then download Vista boot pro and switch the order...
