CRASH vista installer doesn't seem to like my dvd drive

I am trying to do a clean installation of the OEM version of Home Premium 64-bit edition on my PC. When I insert the DVD, after telling Windows what keyboard layout I use, it tells me to "please wait". After about 45 minutes, it tells me this:

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver
floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB Flash Drive, please insert it now"

I am confused because I use a standard IDE dvd rom drive (a Samsung SH-M522C) that works perfectly with Linux and XP without me giving it drivers, and the Windows Vista upgrade advisor even says that my dvd drive should work. Not only that, but the company that made my dvd drive (samsung) never gave me drivers.

After getting frustrated, I went online and found this page here about how to do a flat installation: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928902
I followed the directions exactly as it says, but when I do step 9 (Double-click Setup.exe, and then follow the instructions that appear.), I get a window that says:

"C:\Windows Vista Setup\setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application."

Can somebody please help me with either locating vista drivers for my dvd drive, or getting the flat installation to work?

CRASH

A few hours ago, I tried installing it again, and it didn't give me the error message about the dvd drive that it's given me every other time I've tried to install it. However, when it was at the "expanding files" section, it got stuck at 13% and gave me this error:
Quote:
Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0x80070003
I've searched for this error on google, but I can't find anyone else who has had this problem. Is there something wrong with my vista dvd (which is the only possible reason I can think of for files to be missing)?
