Small Business Desktop purchase-Which OS?

OK, I know this site is primarily for building one's own computer, but I also know you guys know a lot about OS and connectivity choices as well.

Here is my objective:

Set up a small business which is a recruiting company (Head hunter for scientists).

The choice I have to make soon is the OS. My sense, so far, is that I might be far better off with VISTA Business than with any other OS. The primary application is the web based database called PCRecruiter.

I will probably choose Dell as my desktop, probably less than $1,000 for a duo core system.

Business only, no gaming. I want a very big screen so I can put two full pages (8.5 x 11 inches) on the screen at the same time. I expect the desktop to be connected to the web application, possibly 2-4 web sites, at all times.

VISTA for Business or some other OS? I can provide a wealth of other information if you consider it relevant to the choice.

Definitely go with Vista Business. It will allow you to connect to a Windows Domain (you probably won't need this though) and includes IIS in case you need to have websites installed on your PC for demo purposes.
Vista Business also has all the multimedia enhancement services removed so you don't waste resources on them.

I've been running Windows Vista Business on a Pentium D 2.8 (2 GB RAM) for about 5 months straight and it works great.

Thanks. I don't know what IIS is, so I can't comment on that yet. I may end up viewing a lot of webinars, so I presume the relative lack of multimedia enhancements won't end up costing me any reduced capabilities. Many of the training seminars seem to be web based, but I presume most of the basics will allow me to see video trainng seminars.

Is VISTA Business any different with a VPN than other Windows OS versions?

You shouldn't have any problem with playing anything off of the Internet. I went from Business to Ultimate because I couldn't play DVD's on my laptop.

You don't really need Vista Business unless you are going to join it to a domain which doesn't sound likely. You could go with XP Home or any other Vista besides Basic.
