On the blue screen itself, it should say something like "STOP: 0x0000005" The number will be different, but that's what it should look like.

ok now it quit the game without a blue screen and gave me a window that said "ran out of memory" and a bunch of numbers. what does this mean? i have 4gigs ddr2 1066, maybe the game doesnt like that should i step it back to ddr2 800? or take a stick out and run just 2 gigs?

EDIT: here is what it says: Application ran out of memory when requesting 262176 bytes (limit 2048, current 776mb)

Try this: www.memtest.org

Run that for a few passes and see what happens.
