Loads of Issues
Yikes.
I'm very frustrated with my computer, I built it in Feb. '07. In about October '07 the PSU died, but it was about a month away from my wedding so I didn't have the time (and we didn't have the funds, weddings are expensive!) to fix it, so I left it until about Feb. '08, when I decided to go to my local supply store and purchase another PSU (I probably should have gone through with my warranty to fix it, but I wanted to get it done quick). That seemed to work, the computer was running fine for about two months, and now another problem has popped up. One day when I was using my computer (Vista Ultimate OS), the sidebar died, then the explorer window I had open shut down, then I got a blue screen saying a whole bunch of things and that the memory was dumping. The blue screen was up for about 3 seconds before the screen restarted so I don't get enough time to see everything that's written. Now when I start my computer, I get to the login screen (the mouse doesn't work). I can log into windows, but after about 5 seconds I get the blue screen. Sometimes it's longer, sometimes it's shorter. The blue screen I get says something to do with memory management and the numbers I get (they change from time to time) have been at times 0xC0000005 and 0x0000001A. I've received others as well. Any ideas what could be the problem? Do have some bad RAM now? I switched out the hard drive and the same thing happened, so I'm pretty sure that's not the issue. Why all of a sudden is my mouse not working too? That's strange as it was working even a couple times after the latest problem started, but is now an issue as well. I really want to get this fixed, I put a fair amount of $ into this computer and now all my wife does is laugh at me when we see the Mac and PC commercials on TV! Thanks for any help anyone can offer! Also, if this is not in the appropriate forum, could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks! -JB |

I would unplug all peripherals that are plugged in, and then Try safe mode. See if you get any crashes that way. If you do, then try this: www.memtest.org
Might want to try that anyway. If no crashes, then I would go and update all your drivers, and test it one at a time. After that, you can try plugging in a peripheral at a time.

It does sound like you have some bad RAM.
Run Memtest from the link shadowpr provided and that will let you know for sure. |
