Vista and Core Speed?

i downloaded CPU-z today and noticed that my Corespeed shifts between 1200 and 2000 this normal?


i felel stupid v.v


Intel E2180 @ 2ghz stock speed

I had the same thing happen to me. I've been told its normal as it shows the changes under load.

Before, you probably had a lower multiplier in bios, and you change it to the right one. That's why it shows those different corespeeds.

That's Intel's Speedstep in action.

When the CPU is under low load conditions, core speed is reduced so as to conserve power.

This is especially useful in laptops, as it can increase battery life by large margins.

If yours is a desktop and you do not want it doing this, you could probably disable it in BIOS.
