Vista x64 bit

what are your opinions on Vista 64 bit?

im going to be re-installing it tommorow,i tried it a long time ago and the only problem i had is that the software Asus smartdoctor for my GFX card which reads the temps doesnt work on it thats the only software that will read my gpu temps too, speedfan, everest and the other wont

so im hoping their latest release will work on it now, also SP1 might have fixed alot of problems up.

did you experience any trouble?

also i wanted to know...shouldnt any 32 bit programs work on 64 bis os as its backwards compatiable?

You can look on ASUS's web site to see if they've updated theor software.

Yes, most 32bit apps should work.

I have zero stability issues for the most common things I use. The only errors I have are with the crappy ATI drivers not doing DreamScene and as you mentioned, Smartdoctor not working (of course, it isn't something that I care about .. just tried it since you mentioned it.

Am on SP1 and I do believe that I have the latest version of Smartdoctor (not sure though). I found this: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us and http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us the theme continues for SP1 as well.

This seems more an issue with Asus' programing and compatibility and there are enough instances that they should've fixed it if they cared. Incidentally .. there seem to be a ton of issues on XP as well, with it breaking at random points.

Most programs are .. but it depends on how the original 32bit program was written and what standards were used.
