I had a problem with a Virus infection on my Vista Ultimate machine, my own stupid fault, after doing virus scan and spyware scan I am more or less back to normal albeit some programs are closing down on start up, which I may try a Starup Repair, or re-install Vista with another new Hard Drive.
My question is if the restore points had not been wiped clean when virus hit I may have been able to recover but there where no restore points listed. Can I save or copy a resore point to an external device such as a pen drive and then paste back when something like this happens. Or can the restore points be locked so that nothing can delete or access without permission. Regards John |

More often then not, viruses get included in restore points.
So, even if you could relocate the points, you'd probably have the same issues... You might want to consider drive cloneing software....Course, you'd want to make certain the original drive is clean before cloneing.

That's what happened with my virus ... restore point to where the virus hit and it took all my administration functions over so I couldn’t do anything ... Ron
