Registry Cleaning

My son's laptop seems to be running slower than normal, so I wanted to run a cleaning applicationon the registry. I have already used the disk clean up app, as well as defrag. I have used spybot, search and repair. ''As I look at user comments, I see that a lot of the registry cleaning software does not work well with Vista.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance,

Chris Barnes

Odds are that cleaning the registry isn't going to help and it sure can make things worse.

How much slower does it "seem" to be?
Did you make any changes to the pc or install any programs that run all the time before it became slower?

make sure hard drive is not in PIO mode that can cause it to go slow. to find out, right click on my computer and click properties. go into hardware tab and device manager. in devide manager click on the + next to IDE/ATA channels
click on primary IDEA channel and right click and click properties and then advanced tab, if current transfer mode is PIO mode or PIO only then you have that problem which can easily be fixed, if it says current mode id DMA then check 2ndary IDE channel just incase that one has your HD attached.

then again if its a vista laptop you probably have SATA drives.
