Firefox can open, but cannot browse anywhere

My friend has installed firefox on a toshiba protege with vista business. She has downloaded firefox, can install it, can open it, but cannot browse any website on firefox. The windows firewall is turned off. I am not at the computer, so I cannot say anything else. I myself have no experience on vista, and have no idea what seems to be the problem. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Can she browse using Internet Explorer? What error message does she get when she tries to go to a website in Firefox?

Have you checked the support forums on Firefox's website?

I would guess there is a pre-installed Firewall or AV software stopping FF.
