VPN with Vista

I have been fighting on and off with this for a few days.
How do you share a VPN connection with a normal connection in Vista?
In the past I have always been able to share the connection so that I can view the VPN and normal web pages at the same time. I cannot find a way around it this time, I have to disconnect the VPN connection to view normal web pages and not quite vice versa but the moment I connect to VPN the normal connection is dropped.
Any ideas?
