Downgrade from VISTA TO XP

How Can i do this? All i get is pop in the CD and it will reformat.. But everytime i Pop in the cd i got.. it never asks to press any key. i went into bios. it's configured and still not working.. What am i supposed to do? Im running on X64BIt VISTA Home premium. I hate it. I want XP. =P

what am i supposed to do? I have the iso on my computer. I burned it to a DVD. and still not working.

help.. please

Im pretty sure vista wont let me downgrade.. So what should i do? BOOT the vista disc.. delete the partition then restart and pop in the xp disc? help me out here..

Is it a genuine xp cd?

Your best bet would be to use the ultimate boot cd to format the partition.

After that, you can just use the xp cd.

Ok i found an old copy of Windows XP. it works. But one problem it only recognizes 3 GB.. took 4 HOURS TO reformat.. and this happens.. I got windows XP black edition. used power iso to burn it to a disc but the computer just wont boot it. help me out.. i'm on windows XP now and its not recognizing my 4gb ram!

Ok. The reaason you only see 3gb is because it's a 32bit os. You need a 64bit vesion to recognize all 4gb.

On another note, xp black edition sounds like it's an illegal download, which isn't allowed to be discussed here, and which you also said you had a legal version. If you have a genuine version, then use that.

1life, the OP is asking to switch from Vista to XP. I don't think buying Vista Basic is quite the same.

I don't think one can down grade with any MS cd's, as soon as the software detects that vista is on the HD, it stops and states that you cannot downgrade,
what you must do is to format the drive and do a new install of XP.
I use partition magic to remove the partition, and then the XP cd will run the install.
