Upgrading to Vista 64bit
Out of these two, which one is better?
Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit or Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit I am wanting to upgrade to the 64-bit version of Vista and was curious as to the differences in these two products. Also how hard is it to get a store to sell me the System Builders edition of the OS? |

The biggest diference between basic, and home premium is aero. Vista SKU comparisons (differences between the various Vista versions)
And I don't think any store will sell the system builders unless it's a computer store.

Thanks for the link
The store is called Microcenter. They have the system builder disks listed on their website for sale. I was just wondering if there was something that needed to be presented when purchasing a System Builders edition. |

I don't think you would need anything else. Just pick it up. (Worst case scenario is that you have o buy a piece of hardware. Ram is cheap.)
And microcenter has some good deals. |

You also get Media Center capability with Home Premium. I have Vista Ultimate on my home pc and Vista Home Premium on my laptop.

If you had to choose between Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit for $79.99
http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0294708 or Windows Vista Home Basic 64bit for $99.99 http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0294707 Which would you choose? Im thinking Premium |

I like premium.
Basic makes no sense to me personally. |

Yeah, Premium is good way to go, unless you need the ability to join a domain or host a remote desktop session, then go with at least Business. For most home users, Premium will be fine.

Whoa $80 for Vista Premium 64 Bit? That's a steal! Newegg has that for $110!
Hmm, what kind of reputation does Microcenter have in terms of customer support and stuff? Never ordered from them... Also, is Vista Ultimate 64 Bit just overrated? Costs $70 more than Premium! Just for dreamscene and a few other things... |

Microcenter is better than Fry's in my opinion. They have a B&M store just down the road from me, so I usually just buy there and don't order online. You can order online and pick up instore if they have a location near you. They are usually pretty decent. I would think ordering online would be fine as well. Take a look at that link that shadowpr posted above. Ultimate includes all the components that Business includes such as being able to join a domain and such, besides the "eye candy". So, if you want the "eye candy" and the actual functional components, then Ultimate is for you.

What do you mean, I thought Premium had 'eye candy' aswell?
What 'eye candy' does Ultimate have over Premium? |
