Compatability issues. Help needed.
Hey all. Just bought a new laptop, as I'll be traveling a decent amount for work, and wanted to be able to bring all of my great games with me. I know it's not the "greatest" gaming machine out there, but it was an affordable one for me. I was hoping this would run nice graphics and smooth gameplay (I understand it's not going to be FANTASTIC!) but it's really choppy for games such as Lord of the Rings Online (even though I put the video options way down), and I can't get Asheron's Call to patch, and one last gripe, can't get NWN 2 to play. So the question is, does anyone know how I can get NWN 2 to play on this machine, and also how can I get Asheron's Call to patch?
Anyway, here is the machine: HP ProcessorAMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 2.0GHz WXGA+ high-definition widescreen display with BrightView technology and 1440 x 900 resolution 17" 512KB + 512KB at die Level 2 4GB DDR2 250GB 5400RPM SATA HDD Double-layer DVD±RW/CD-RW NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M (UMA) Up to 1071MB video memory NetworkingBuilt-in high-speed 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)Wireless NetworkingBuilt-in high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g) Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with SP1 |

NWN 2? Care to give that game the full title?
However, I think the fact you're running Vista 64 is the problem and not the GPU. Just a guess, as I kinda recall xtrap not liking the UAC too much. |

NWN2 = Neverwinter Nights 2.
UPDATE* I just got it to finally play, didn't do anything I'm aware of, it just finally started up. Although even with the computing power and 4GB, the game runs as if I had only 256MB ram. What gives here? I even set the graphics on the game as low as possible, and it's still VERY choppy. Is there a way I can make the game play on a single core? Reading other threads, I've seen that making some games only use one core allows them to work much better. Don't know how to do this though. |
