Stopping Windows Mail running as default?
Just installed Vista and in the process of learning some in's and out's.
Windows mail is automatically my default email client. (Want to switch to Yahoo.) What is the best way to achieve this? Want to keep the service... but not as default. Edit: Have had success in finding out how...acting glithcy though. Last edited by bd1886; 08-26-2008 at 06:34 PM. Reason: Success |

It's nice to post your fix in case someone else is looking to solve this dilemma.

Isn't Yahoo! web based email? I've seen Yahoo mail based program supplied with a few ISPs, if yoi have one of them then just select it as the default email client from the Default Programs console.
Failing that try: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...1193813AAXJYNZ or one of the many other suggestions from Yahoo help. |

Just getting back with the final word on this. Apparently... there is no true way to run Yahoo as default. I had it running through Windows Mail but it was acting real poorly. Guess I'll run another mail program for some stuff then.

I just set up my daughters Vista laptop, she has a hotmail account and I had to download Windows Live Mail, MS says it will do Hotmail (which it does) also Yahoo, and Gmail
