BBC i player and DRM (uk)

I have downloaded a video from the BBC i player, which I am legally alowed to do.
It is on my desktop as an AVI file. However, when I try to use Nero to burn it as a DVD, it will not do so, because of DRM copy protection.
The i player lets you watch and save TV programmes which have been broadcast live on the previous day. If you record the live programme, it is possible to DVD it, so why the problem with DRM on the i pl;ayer version.

Has anyone any advice on what to do to get it on to a DVD please?
