Hi ..

I just installed a fresh copy of Win Vista HP and installed the SP1 directly .. and nothing like being fresh !

I as wondering , is using registry cleaning programs will keep the system healthy like its fresh installation ? what programs do u use ? are they made specially for vista ??

CCleaner.com

Use the registry cleaner in that. Works nice.

Just keep in mind - zapping a few hundred out of several million entries won't help a thing.

And, removing ONE entry that you shouldn't remove can turn your pc into a boat anchor.

Ditto.
Personally, I don't touch the registry unless I know what I am doing and I surely am not going to allow some "cleaner" program to start deleting entries.

Unilbue

I have Uniblue, its a "gold certified partner" for Microsoft, pcmech.com did a review on it without a negative response, I use it, it kicked my Microsoft Office 2007 back to 2003 but it does a backup every time it does a scan so all I had to do was a restore point and Office 2007 worked fine after that.

I like it, not sure if its worth having because I dont have in-depth knowledge of it, just let it do its thing along with AVG 8.0.

I am using it on XP, havent tried it on my Vista yet.

My Vista tweaking, whether for myself or a customer, involves turning off the annoying User Account Control, selecting only necessary programs to start using msconfig and following BlackViper.com's recommendations for controlling Services. I scan with Spybot 1.6, install the latest AVG, leave Windows Defender running, set the Page File to a fixed size and install AusLogic's defrag tool for defragmentation. I also turn off the auto defrag feature on Vista. I don't see a need to mess with the registry. I've tried different Registry Cleaners/Healers/Fixers and even with XP, I fail to see any appreciable performance increase.

Uniblue

Yea I definitely dont see any appreciable difference in performance with Uniblue, as I said it actually at times causes problems, I kind of like the deep RAM recovery though. I will try your suggestion with Vista, Panama Red.

I know how to use msconfig, but dont know how to use a registry cleaner to its full potential to give me the performance I would personally need.

Buying a registry cleaner, or using a registry cleaner is probably just asking for trouble if there isnt a resonable demand for it.
