Error: Digital Cable device registration applicaiton has stopped working

I just upgraded my processor from a Core 2 Duo E6400 to a Core 2 Quad Q6600. Everything went just fine, but now I get a constantly recurring error message that reads: "Digital Cable device registration application has stopped working". I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 TV tuner card, and it no longer works in Windows Media Center. Media Center tells me that I do not have a TV tuner installed, and if I try to watch TV, Media Center instantly crashes. I have been doing a lot of searching through forums, and it seems that this is a very common problem when upgrading from a dual core to a quad core CPU in Vista Ultimate. However, the only solutions that I have seen mentioned are to delete the contents of the system's DRM folder (mine is empty so there is nothing to delete), or to just reinstall Vista. I would REALLY like to avoid reinstalling Vista, as I have so many applications (games, etc...) on my computer that reinstalling everything is a huge pain. I have tried reinstalling the TV tuner card's drivers but it didn't fix the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

-Ed

Do you think using the Vista DVD to try to repair the installation might work?

Did you try a repair, and it just didn't work?

Yes, I tried a repair but Vista told me there was nothing wrong to repair. So I reformatted.
