DVD-RW direct writing
I want to have some of my applications (like Quickbooks) backup my files to my DVD-RW.
Vista sends the files to a temporary burn folder and then I have to "burn" them later. Extra steps I don't want to do. How do I disable temporary burn folder for rewritable dvd and have my application write directly to my DVD-RW without putting it somewhere else? Regards, -jP |

You'll need "packet writing" software. If you have a suite like Roxio or Nero, there should be an applet you can install to do this. Here's a review that suggests that Dell DLA, free, should work, however it's an older utility and I'm not sure if it works with vista:
http://www.argentuma.com/backup/software/dla.html Here's another I've NOT used but is free: http://files.uberdownloads.com/softw...arecorder.html You can Google "CD burning software" and or "packet writing software" for more selections

Thanks, I'll give it a try (if my version of Nero works with Vista!)

Nero comes with InCD which has always worked well for me... but I've never tried it on vista.

Nero 7 will work with Vista. For general burning purposes....Burnaware Fee will also work with Vista.
