Why is Vista better?
No bashing Vista but I'm just wondering what make Vista that much better then XP home/pro? The over all opinion.
I have messed with it and see really no frills about it! and you can't say it is just for security reasons. Last edited by toomyg; 11-15-2008 at 09:07 AM. Reason: added to post again.... |

I don't think I have heard anyone state that they believe Vista is better. In fact I usually hear the opposite. I have Vista & XP on one machine in a dual boot config and I hardly ever use Vista. It's prettier and has a few cool things like Aero.

I have a dual boot system Vista 64 and Windows XP, I'm hardly ever boot up in Windows XP. I like Vista for it seems snappier and (knocking on wood as I type this
) never have the BSOD happen to me when using Vista.

Yes, mainly a personal preference. I have found superior about Vista compared to XP......it's just different.

I dont know why Vista is better than XP... I just know that I like it way better than any other Microsoft OS yet for a number of reasons already explained on various comparison threads on here.
I did and still do .. but for my use .. to each his own. |

I'm convinced on Vista Premium... Vista Basic was a complete dog and I hated it.. it came on my Dell... I formatted and put XP on it... Even after upping the RAM to 3GB.. I hated it... but I have Premium on my new build and on my laptop and quite like it. I think I may format that Dell and put the Basic back on and hit the anytime upgrade.

Exactly. I was attempting to point out that many people have already stated their preferences about Vista so that you could get tons of input.

Vista is not just an upgrade from xp, it's a different operating system. You just can't think of it as an upgrade.

They're not abandoning xp just yet. There will be a while before that happens, but eventually it will. That's business. If they don't try to move on, then they won't make money.
With that said, I think Vista is an improvemen over XP. I prefer it now. |

Whether Vista is better or not depends on you and your hardware. Forget putting Vista on an old machine...if it runs at all it will run like crap...generally.
I prefer Vista 64 over XP but that's because I like the new GUI better and I have a relatively new machine. I have only come across one piece of software that XP can run but Vista 64 cannot....Zone Alarm.

Especially with the need for XP on those low powered netbooks.

I've only come across a printer driver problem with Vista 64-bit once...that's basically the only problem I've ever had.
