Downgrading Vista to XP
I've done some searches in the forums to first see what was out there before posting. I learned quite a bit. Here's my question --
My wife has an HP laptop with Windows Vista (probably some home addition). It's giving her nothing but problems. I am running both a desktop and an HP laptop with Windows XP, I have had little to no issues with either OS since I purchased them. I was wondering a few things... Is there usually any compatibility issues when downgrading? Is it as simple as upgrading older OS versions was? The biggest question (and the one I fear the most) Can she retain her harddrive music, videos, and other information? Thanks for you help. |

She would have to back up all her files because XP will wipe the drive clean and reformat, but before you do anything that drastic, makeure there are drivers available for everything from HP. Most people are becoming quite comfortable with Vista. If you list your problems perhaps the good folks here can help you out.

You might want to check to see if there is drivers for XP.

What issues is she having? Is it getting used to Vista itself? Or does she have older programs that don't run correctly?
