Help Please - Vista locks up after login

Hey There -

I have A problem with my vista PC. It starts normally and lets me select a user account but after about 20 seconds on the desktop it stops responding and everything freezes. the cursor still moves around the screen but nothing is clickable and Ctrl Alt Del does nothing.

This problem came up after windows update was installing updates and the computer was accidentaly restarted - though I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I am posting right now from safemode which works just fine. I tried windows restore twice to two different dates before the problem and neither worked.

Try to uninstall the latest updates while in safe mode.
