Problems with iTunes64?

I installed iTunes64 and am having real problems with it hanging when I navigate my playlists. It takes on the order of 1-2 seconds to populate the playlist and sometimes hangs. It seems to be related to loading the cover art. Anyone else having problems?

I'm running Vista x64, Q6600 on Gigabyte EP45-UD3R with 4 GB DDR2-800 and Gefore 6800 GT video card.

Oh I'd love to not use iTunes! But sigh alas, I haven't come across any other application that implements correctly all of the featuers for the iPod. I use the smart playlists a lot and depend on my play counts and skip counts for these lists. I've checked out a few other apps to sync the ipod but they all seem to be missing a feature ipod-related that I use a lot. I don't use iTUnes as a media player, just for syncing the ipod.

Guys,

Wait a minute :

" It takes on the order of 1-2 seconds to populate the playlist..."

Loading cover art depends on what iTunes has in its data base.

You're too cryptic for us to tell what's going on.

Let me try to explain better.
I just installed vista x64. I already had my "iTunes" folder backed up, so after installing iTunes, I copied my library files (.xml, .itl, album cover art folder, etc) to the new iTunes directory. Started iTunes and up pops my library. Yay. Then I start clicking on each one of my smart playlists to verify things are right. Songs in the playlist take a second to come up and the view (cover flow and/or list view) doesn't show up. It's like the application has stopped responding. It looks like its "hanging" changing from one list (with one view, say cover flow) to the list I just clicked (say also with cover flow view). I say this because when I click a new playlist, I'll see a list view with the browser at the top, then when its finally ready to show the songs in the list, it goes back to cover flow list view. This is even if the list I was switching from was also cover flow view (so no where in there should I see a list view with browser). Occasionally, iTunes completely stops responding and I have to terminate the program. This is just in the course of going from viewing one smart playlist to the next.

I thought it might be something corrupt about my library file since I brought it from the previous operating system and this version of iTUnes now is for vista64, so I started a new library and added all 12000 of my songs and created a few smart playlists and the same thing was happening.

I was just wondering if anyone else has seen the gui run slowly (more then normal) or hang completely. This wasn't an issue when I was running iTunes 8 on XP.
