Default option on shutdown.
Is there a way in Vista when you hit Start >> Shutdown and the menu comes up, to have it default to "Switch User" instead of shutdown, or in case of my laptop, sleep.

Only options I se are sleep, shutdown, or hibernate.
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...-to-shut-down/ There might be a way to make a icon that wil do what you want.

I have multiple users on each machine, so we are regularly switching users.

Could you just ctrl-alt-del and choose switch user?
Seems easier then going to the start menu and then to switch user. |

You could change the "power button" on the start menu to do something other than sleeping .. but not to switch user (unfortunately) - go to Power Options > System Settings and change the action.
You could create a desktop (or anywhere) shortcut to switch (disconnect session) user by creating a shortcut pointing to C:\Windows\System32\tsdiscon.exe (Session discontinuation utility). |
