A 2203 error is usually indicative of insufficient rights.
The first step I'd suggest is to checking on the game developers site or contacting them to see if this is a documented issue and if they have a workaround. Or if it is a Vista compatibility issue with lowered rights and UAC. If you are confident that what you've downloaded has not got any malware and isnt a program that is trying to write to a restricted area or to a restricted file .. and if you believe that it is worth taking a chance for this game .. then try running it as an admin or by stopping UAC. .. again, it's something that you should be wary of. Addendum - it's not that Vista doesnt have any issues with these permissions issues even with well known programs .. it's just that when you mentioned a downloaded game, I'd recommend you make sure it is a clean source. If need be, try downloading it again to a more generic location like the desktop and trying. Last edited by Statica; 01-13-2009 at 11:54 AM. |

It is downloaded to desktop, it is excellent download and uac is off.Was having issues with permissions and issues so got TakeControl.exe and did so on all files, as to not have this problem. Have been downloading games from the site for over a year with no issues. It shows I have permission when I go to properties/security. Installtion starts then says: Don`t run this program unless you know where it is from or have used it before.
I hit allow then the error 2203 comes up. Seems to be a problem with the MSI file. Have full acess to it though. That is where I am getting confused as to what to do. |
