Vista cleaner and cd Question

My daughter is buying a new h/p with m.s vista. At best buy they said they had a way to clean out the operating system as to remove all uneaded adds and pops. They also said they would create a operating systems back up cd ,for the unit dosn't come with one. They want $150.00 to do this. Is there software out that I can use to do it on my own?

I believe when you start the laptop there is a program on it that will let you make your own backup cd.

And to clean out the junk: www.pcdecrapifier.com It works good.

Then just use run> msconfig

And go to blackviper to set the services.

That's what I do with new laptops. They seem to work perfectly after that.

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to state that this is a desk top. I don't know if that makes a differenece or not as far as your answer goes.

Makes no difference.

Thre should be a program that will still let you make the restore discs. Someone that has worked with HP's recently might be able to verify that, but I'm just about sure they do. If not, Acronis can make a image of the drive, and that costs a lot less then $150.

The rest of the steps are the same.

The PC should come with instructions for making the necessary Restore Disc/s.
If not......Making a HP Restore Disc: http://www.pctechbytes.com/hp-recovery-cd.htm
