Vista stuck in update loop

After running windows update and rebooting, the system installs the update then reboots, then installs, then reboots, then installs…. And so on. I can’t get into the computer to check anything. I’ve tried to boot from the window Vista CD and do a boot repair but it says there is no problem and reboots and the cycle repeats itself. I’ve tried “safe mode”, system restore, you name it. It just keeps rebooting. Any suggestions?
