Hello,
My Sony vaio vgn-ar51j's hd's just died recently so I bought a new one that appears in the bios alright. My problem's as follow: I didn't backup or write any dvd when I bought the laptop, so I download a Vista sp1 version. I put the disc in the player, click "Install now" and I got this message: Install Windows "Windows cannot the required file D:\Sources\Install.wim. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070002" Would anybody have an explanation? Should this required Install.wim file already be on the hd? Is there a way of getting it and installing it through the prompt command made available with the boot disc? Any tipp will be welcome... Kind Regards, fostrouty |

I don't know of a LEGAL way to download Vista...Suggest you contact Sony for a replacement dvd or purchase one from a retail store.

You can legally download "Vista Recovery" and make a disc from that but you can't use it to install Vista.
