Window 7 Beta & WMC

I have been playing around with Vista Windows Media Center. I changed the registry value to show the DVD Library. I tested it by putting 7 movies on another PC and sharing the folder. The way the shared folder is structured is a main folder called “DVD Movies” that is shared. Inside that shared folder is folders with the names of the movies, for example, “300”, “Christmas Vacation”, “American Pie”, ect… Inside those folders are the dvd files *.BUP, *.IFO, *.VOB, and so on. Also in that folder is the *.XML file so that the DVD movie cover art is displayed.

When I open Vista WMC and go to “TV + Movies”, then “DVD Library” all the movies load and will play with no problem.

My problem and question is when I do this with Windows 7 Beta. When I go to “Movies” nothing loads. I just get a message that says no movies can be found and to right click to setup the library, which is already setup. As far as I know and can tell, I have the Vista WMC and Windows 7 Beta WMC configured identically.

Why does Vista find the movies, but Windows 7 Beta does not? Please help.

Thanks,
Brian

Sounds like something you might want to report to Microsoft.

It could be a error.

Others may or may not.

To report problems, go to the control panel > Action Center > Maintenance > choose check for solutions.

All that did was a scan, then reported back "No new solutions found". I don't think it reported anything.

I just wanted to add an update that may help someone solve this problem for me. When I go to "Pictures + Videos", then "video library", I can see all folders that contain the dvd files. When I click on one it says no videos found, but I assume that is because it doesn't recognize *.vob as a video file.

So the folders show up as a video, but still nothing with the DVD Library.

I tired the above suggestion, and still doesn't work. I also renamed my shared folder from "DVD Movies" to DVDMovies". I thought the space may have been causing the problem. Any other ideas?

When you go to manage library, does your shared DVD folder show up? Mine does not. In fact when I go to the Manage Media Library, it only lets me set up Music, Picture, Video, and recorded TV folders. The only way I can get to the DVD Library is by right clicking within the Movie Library, then selecting Manage Libraries. Then a window pops up that says DVD Locations. After I am done selecting my "DVDMovies" locations it shows me a list of all my libraries, but it does not display the one I just picked for DVDs. It only shows [Music], [Pictures], {Video], and [TV].
