Requesting Help With Vista Ultimate 32-bit

I downloaded a file and opened it up and it tried to install winantivurus 2009 on vista, windows defender caught it and then the system crashed.
I used my xp partition to remove the virus with AVG Free, Windows defender etc.
It says its clean but when I boot into vista in a few minutes the system BSOD and then it says a critical service was terminated and windows needs to shut down to prevent any damage.
I have the .dmp file but I have to idea how to resolve the prob.
any help is greatly appreciated it
Thanks!

it might not be the generally recommended method to use, but I would do a reinstall repair, only due to the fact that you cannot boot into windows to do a restore point.

you could try to boot in safe mode and if that works, then do a restore point to where it was before you installed the problem program

I turned off system restore at the begining of the installation of vista.

I can boot in to the system but it blue screens after a while..

I can get into safemode with no probs but im still stuck with the same prob when I boot into the system normally.

Ill give it a shot.

thanks for the response/

if you turned off the system restore, then your up the creek without a paddel, restore was your paddel.
so now the best thing you can do is a system install repair, unless somebody has a better idea.

If it got into your vista partition, then try running a virus scan in safe mode...
