Problem updating Outlook Connector - help please!
Any help/advice would be great!
I expect this is a very simple problem which I'm failing to solve, but have been using Microsoft Outlook Connector since getting Outlook 2007 last year to automatically sync with Hotmail email account. It was easy to install and worked fine initially, synchronising all folders and address book onto Outlook. Just a few days ago it tried to update itself to the new version 12.1, saying that it would no longer work if I didn't update. In the process of downloading the update outlookconnector.exe (4.36MB), it asks to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms. The Microsoft Outlook Connector setup wizard opens - you click NEXT and immediately a window opens saying: File in Use Some files that need to be updated are currently in use The following applications are using files that need to be updated by this setup. Close these applications and click retry to continue. Microsoft Outlook. Then even if you've closed Microsoft Outlook and all its shortcuts, indeed everything short of uninstalling it, you click retry and nothing happens. Now OUtlook won't download hotmail messages. Have tried fully uninstalling previous version of Outlook Connector but same problem. Has anyone else had this problem or are there any suggestions of how to resolve it? Many thanks indeed for any help/advice, Jim |
