networking problem

HI Gang

I was using the first version of Win 7 beta, and my sharing worked great. All I shared was a printer, a Epson R300. Now when I formatted the drive, and installed the new Win 7 RC, I cannot get it to network with the other XP computer/printer.

I have 2 printers connected to my XP computer, (an HP 7660 and a Epson R300) and I want to share the Epson printer with the Win 7RC computer. I cannot get the Win 7RC computer to see the XP computer. When ever I go into the Win 7 computer there is that computer but not the XP computer. My understanding is in order for the sharing to take place, it first has to see the other XP computer, this is not happening. I have tried so many things, I am at my wits end. I thought this would be a snap being it worked so great with the original Win 7 Beta. I have tried installing the Vista drivers, for the printer, still no luck.

I even have tried the Network Maigc free version to see if it could do it, no luck there either.

The XP computer is my main computer and the Win 7 RC is my secondary computer. The stuff you see listed for my Win 7RC computer is at the bottom of my post, and more info needed just let me know.

Thanx...Gunny

when you click on Computer and down on the left side do you see the Network label..?

you should be able to click on that and it will find the XP PC....what homegroup did you sign for during the install...?

if you have the XP PCs under a different workgroup name then change the Win7 PC to teh same workgroup....

try changing teh homegroup....use the Work home group and see if that changes anything....

and like I said if the XP rigs on that network are under a workgroup name other than the default MSHOME then change the Win7 workgroup to the same as the XP

Simple to do....to change the workgroup just typed workgroup in the search box....
