Vista 64 OK?

I am getting ready to order a dell pc for my daughter. Trying very hard to keep the total cost under 500. It comes with Vista Home basic and I was going to upgrade to Home Premium but the only option is for the 64-bit version. I assume I won't have any driver issues out of the box but what about when she installs her software and games? Will there be a problem or is the 64-bit situation not going to be a factor? TIA.

I think I remember a few members saying that home premium actually worked better than home basic. Not sure how that works out, but I remember hearing that.

As far as it being 64bit, there should be no problems. I've been running vista hp 64 since august 07 without problems.

Like jdeb said though, home basic should give you almost all you would need. Might want to try that out first to help keep the cost down before you upgrade it.

Thanks guys I ordered it with the Home Basic edition. I wouldn't have minded spending a little more for premium but was afraid that the 64 bit version would not run 32 bit software like her games. Guess I'll just upgrade late. maybe even Win 7.
