I have a problem with a new install of win7 rc. I go along, exploring or whatever and all of a sudden windows will freeze. I don't know exactly what to call it. Mouse pointer will not move, ctrl-alt-delete will not work, esc , nothing. I can't even use the reset button, I have to pull the plug or shut off power supply. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks |

Does this happen often?
What are you doing when it happens? Did you install all the drivers already? Please list system specs.

It doesn't seem to mater what I'm doing. It happens when I'm online, when I'm ripping CD's, or just when I'm going through the start menu.
I am running a Biostar mobo Geforxe6100-M9 an AMD dual core processer, 2 GB ram with a Geforce 8500 gts video card. Also dual maxtor 250gb HDs. |

Please be more specific about your hardware. Detailed specs will help.

What is the exact make and model of your ram?
Have you updated all the drivers? |

try with just one brand of ram at a time.
After you remove one brand, reset the bios to defaults and let it automatically set the ram. See if that works. And did you install all the drivers? |

Actually I did start with one set of ram, that's why I put in the second set. I thought it might not have enough ram. But I will take the first set out and try it. Get to you latter. I could not find any Win7 drivers for the motherboard. I already updated the video drivers and sound drivers.
Thanks |

You need motherboard drivers. Use vista drivers.
Are their any yellow exclamation marks in device manager? |

There are no Vista drivers available for this board. I did try changing the memory and just used the Kingston this time. I did run the Windows 7 compatibility check before I downloaded the Win7 .iso . I even updated the BIOS and reset the cpu. I thought it could be overheating. Still the same. I have no clue what to do next. Anybody?
