Upgrade versions of Vista

Happy to be corrected, but I am of the understanding that Windows releases these upgrade versions for those who've previously bought Windows to make the price more reasonable...

I recently bought a computer that had a trial version of Vista installed. Can I upgrade this by simply putting the XP CD in to register it then upgrade?? Or do I have to wipe, install with XP then upgrade??

If you upgrade XP then you can no longer use that XP key code..

The following should work:

Just go purchase the license from any preferred computer related vendor around your town (BestBuy, etc). Once you've received the license and the product key:

Click the Windows button
Right click My Computer
Select Properties
Select the "Change product key" option
Enter your new product key information.
Click OK.
