Windows 7 HD no longer boots, SATA adapter not detected during startup.

SO I've bought a seperate 500gb Western Digital hard-drive for my windows 7 disk just in case something like this happens. I have been using Windows 7 RC for a while and it's been good to me.

So here's what happened. It was working fine yesterday but I noticed my media sharing to my xbox 360 wasn't working so I decided to restart. When it started to boot I got the error "No hard drive detected on Adapter 1". So I thought it was maybe the cable, so I swapped it out and no change. I then changed the power cable because mine are modular and no problem there. I also try to repair the drive with the windows 7 installation disk but no go, it doesn't find it and asks to install the hard disk driver first but I never needed it.

So I reconnect my XP hard drive and have it boot and connect my windows 7 hard drive to see if it's there. When I start my XP machine I see my windows 7 disk fine. Windows is there, program files are there. Everything is there, it's just not booting.

Does this have something to do with boot.ini. Why wouldn't it be detecting the drive on a certain adapater.

Any help is appreciated. My specs if necessary are

Download and burn the iso as an image. That will test the drive to see if it's going bad.

I just clicked open in new tab and it worked.

If not, go to western digital and click on support > downloads.

Find your drive and choose diagnostics for dos cd.

Is the drive seen in bios?

The drive is seen in the bios and I can even set the boot order. The strange thing is the "disk not found in adapter one" shows up with my xp drive even though it boots from it.
