Vista 32 activation problem

Is there a phone number at Microsoft where I can talk to a human concerning the activation of my Vista 32? Microsoft seems to think it may be pirated or I am trying to run the same license on two computers, which is not the case. I get a message box which says this product has already been activated and it will not allow me to activate my legitimate paid for copy.

Thanks shadow, I already tried all the automated ways of activating Vista. My only option left is to speak to a human and try to convince that person that I am not some unethical dirtbag software pirate.

There is no way that I am going to pay for a second Vista 32 software license. I will switch over to Linux or Apple if I have to just out of principle.

Does Microsoft allow you to speak to a human for free? Many large corporations don't. I know that Steam/Valve and a number of small time software companies do not.

That article says there is a place to push and it will give you the number to call. It should be free to activate, and thus to talk to them about activation problems.

What did you do to the pc to trigger the activation?
Add new hardware - or reload the OS?

I had to reload the OS because the motherboard on my wife's computer failed. I took the Vista 32 off my current computer after it crashed and put it on my wife's computer. My current computer no longer has it installed...so I should be legal, right? I am using one license for only one computer. Or does your license expire if you have to switch computers?

It took quite a bit of digging around but I found the number at Microsoft where you can speak with a human if you are having product activation problems.

Since Microsoft seems to want to keep this number a secret, I would like the entire world to know it.

It is: 1-800-571-2048

Sorry Microsoft, but if you did not make it so difficult to get a hold of a human I might have had a little more sympathy towards keeping you're little secret.

That's not the full story though. After I called this number, I then spent almost an hour on the phone being switched between 6 people, five in India and one in the United States. At the end of the phone conversation after I got the OS activated, I was asked how my experience has been. Well I told the guy that he was the sixth guy I had talked to in the last 50 minutes. He apologized and said his supervisor wanted to apologize as well....SO WHAT DOES HE DO? He puts me on HOLD and has me wait for his supervisor to pick up the phone! I laughed at the incredulity and then hung up.

I would have continued to hold and accept the $500 gift certificates that the supervisors give away in situations like this
