"Required CD/DVD device driver missing"
Hi all,
I'm attempting to install the Windows7 RC on the system in my sig, and after a whole lot of waiting, I am presented with a button to "install windows7" I click it, and wait a whole bunch more, and then get this error: Quote:
I did some googling, and found that it could be my DVD is corrupted...sure enough, an md5 checksum on my .iso file failed. So I re-downloaded, verified the .iso file as good, burned it at the slowest speed (6x), and now am back with the same error. Any help much appreciated!

Dvd+r
I'm using an IDE Lite-on DVDRW drive, if that makes a difference. EDIT: Some more googling reveals that this may be a bug with the driver signing on this particular release...I'm trying again, this time I selected "Ignore invalid WHQL signatures" before booting. Unfortunately, it still takes about an hour to get to this failure point, so trying different fixes is really time consuming. Last edited by LeftyAce; 06-13-2009 at 10:20 PM. |

you probly have a bad burn, sometimes the software you use can cause a bad burn of the ISO.
I made several burns and had problems with all of them, then it was suggested to use iso magic, that gave me a good burned iso dvd and it then installed correctly. |

Is there any way to verify the CD? I could re-burn it, but I've only got 3 more blank DVDs. I've been using CDBurnerXP. Will try iso magic.
ps, qrz? de n3wo. EDIT: ISO Magic's free trial won't burn image files greater than 300MB, so I'm still hunting for other solutions. Last edited by LeftyAce; 06-13-2009 at 11:13 PM. |

ImgBurn
I haven't had a problem with it yet. It will also verify the burn once it is done. It cycles your DVD tray to eject and then load. That doesn't mean it is done. Once it reloads it will verify the burn. |

Ok, I got imgburn, and tried to verify my dvd, got a bunch of interface errors. Tried my other DVD drive, and the burn checks out. I still get the same error, even when I turn off driver authentication. Anyone have success with the 64 bit release candidate? Which particular RC?

Have you tried downloading the drivers for your CD/DVD drive and putting them on a disc or USB drive and then let Windows install them? |

Thanks for all the help!
I ended up finding instructions for installing off of a USB drive here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ve-create.html Worked like a charm (And was a whole lot faster to install...I'm talking minutes instead of an hour and a half). I'm now playing very flashy 3d solitaire :-/ |
