Vista and win 7 theoreticals?
Ok, So I saw the promo for half off on upgrades to Windows 7 from Microsoft and noticed no discount for Ultimate users. All of my machines, save 1, use Vista Ultimate and I really dont want to do a clean install or a pay $200+ to upgrade. So, here is my thinking.... anyone have an idea if it will work?
First on the Vista Ultimate, go in and change the product key to a Vista Home Premium. If that would work, then theoretically we could do the upgrade from the now Vista Home Premium/former Ultimate to Win 7 Home Premium? Any ideas? Anyone Try this? Thanks, Wayne |

Pretty sure you can upgrade straight from any version of Windows Vista or XP (including Ultimate) to any version of Windows 7 with no issues.

According to Microsoft's Windows 7 adviser and site, to do an upgrade install from Vista ultimate, you need win 7 Ultimate.
As for the keys, I have a few unused keys for home premium of Vista. |
