Display problem with Win.7

I am running Vista on one hard drive, and Windows 7 on the other. When I am using Vista,
the entire monitor is filled. I have the display setting at 1024 X 768 and I am happy.
When I use Windows 7 and set the display also to 1024 X 768, it is terrible. I checked all
10 settings in Windows 7, and the best one is 1280 X 800 however after I leave the desktop, and go on the internet, or any other screen, I see about a half inch of the desktop up at the top of the monitor where the minimize, expand buttons are. i have the latest drivers for the Hanns-G wide screen installed for Win 7. I am using IE7 with Vista, and IE8 with Windows 7. Is this the problrm, or is there something else I can try. The bottom of the screen seems fine, just the top. I even tried removing different tool bars, but nothing corrects the problem. Thanks for any suggestions, Mike

I fixed it. I went into Control Panel / Appearance / Personalization / Windows Color & Appearance / and unchecked Enable Transparancy. That is what was allowing the top of the desktop to show at the top of the screen. After I did that, I had a choice of several neutral colors to use. Looks much better now. Mike
