Moving iTunes from mac to Windows 7
I recently installed Windows 7 RC and needed to move my iTunes from my mac to this PC. I was previously running XP and thought that I saved my iTunes library information file (the .itl one), but apparently I didn't save the right one. My mac has my updated library. I followed the instructions on http://lifehacker.com/238296/ultrane...external-drive and it worked. I am keeping my iTunes library on another harddrive that isn't my system harddrive.
My problem is this: a lot of my files now have an exclamation point next to them and I need to manually locate them to add them to iTunes. Is there anyway to do this automatically? I have way too many songs to do this manually for each one. I would like to retain my playlists and song ratings. Thanks. |

Hi
Just one comment, iTunes installs a component called 'Bonjour Services" this has caused a lot of problems with Windows 7 connecting to the internet. If after installing iTunes you find that your internet connection keeps dropping out, or won't connect, unistall "Bonjour Services" I don't believe that it is necessary to run iTunes. You may not have a problem but if you do this is where to look. I'm afraid that I can't give you any help on your other issue. Mike |

Most of my music is back ups of my CDs. I didn't know it was illegal to change where my music is stored. I haven't purchases anything from iTunes, so I'm not sure where the illegal part comes in. If I am miss understanding, please let me know. I just don't want to manually go in and search for each missing file. I think the problem comes because the iTunes library itl file is storing the file locations with mac locations and isn't updating when I copy the files onto windows.
