Explorer.exe..Crashing

Is anyone else having problem with vista 64 bit and constant explorer.exe crashing. I just reinstalled my system thinking maybe it was malware, only to discover that right after updating all my drivers and windows, explorer is SOO unstable. Crash, here, crash there... Sometimes explorer.exe will just restart itself without even crashing. Most of the errors come from ntdll.dll. And for some reason windows update isnt giving me service pack 2 anymore. Has a microsoft update messed something up?

I have recently had an issue with a customers machine crashing Explorer during a search when they have several word documents open, you have me thinking it might be a Windows update problem. If I get called back on it I might try a reinstall and switch Office automatic updates off and just do them manually.
I did a big spring clean on the machine about a week or so ago and it appears to be running ok at the moment 'fingers crossed'......

I hope if it is they resolve the problem or patch thats causing this. I am thinking maybe it can be my creative driver, or other, but im starting to doubt that.

Ok after some more investigation, I reinstalled again, now explorer crashed RIGHT after i installed java. I right click on the desktop after installation and windows explorer crashed. Is anyone else experiencing these problems with java maybe? Vista 64 bit service pack 2. But either or it also used to crash with service pack 1 also.
