Question Upgrade version on a new install? How?

I am building a new desktop so I will need an operating system. I want to use Windows 7 when it comes out. I’ll need the 64 bit config. Question: Can I use the upgrade version of Win 7 on a clean install? If I can then how do I do this? Please help. Thank you.

The "upgrade" dvd's are a way of rewarding/discounting owners of previous versions. Do you have a previous operating system that qualifies for the upgrade?

Just dawned on me that you have TWO threads going on the same subject..
Will windows 7 work on my new PC?

In answer to the email you sent-> Yes, if you have XP Home and a key code for it you can use it for an upgrade to Win 7...See you other thread for more details.
