Transferring Microsoft Office 2003 to another computer

I have Office 2003 Pro edition installed on my computer that is starting to fail me. I want to transfer this to another computer. I have the product key but not the disc. I do not plan on using the computer that is failing so I wouldn't have it on two pc's.

You'll need the installation CD. You can't drag and drop applications between different systems.

So, if you don't have the CD, you have two options:

1) Install OpenOffice. It's similar to Office 2003, will read your office documents, but make sure if you want to send files to people, save the file as a Microsoft Office file.

2) If you're using windows 2000 or XP, you can attempt to move the HDD to a new computer and do a repair (or clone it to a new drive and do a repair): http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=151522

Read through the first few posts before attempting...there are some important steps to follow before the move.

But...this method sometimes results in some odd behavior with windows.

Easiest route to take would probably be to download and install OpenOffice if you don't have the MS Office CD.
