Windows Features On/Off (Optionalfeatures.exe) is missing/blank!?

I have done EVERYTHING to try to fix this problem, the windows features on/off list is empty/blank when I navigate to it through control panel AND by running optionalfeatures.exe

Running vista ultimate x64

Have tried sfc /scannow

Earliest system restore still has this problem, so that's out of the question.

I am out of options and this is really bugging me as I cannot fix my print spooler without having access to this.

Is there a fix for this?

If you have the installation cd for your Vista operating system you could try a repair install.

**NOTE**

I'm fairly certain that it has to be a RETAIL disc and not an OEM one from DELL or HP or whatever. In order to the the repair install for Vista you have to run the disc while booted into the operating system and choose the Upgrade option.

Yeah it is a retail disk and I tried that - but what about reinstalling windows over the current version?

That's what a REPAIR install does. The only other option would be to wipe the hard drive and start fresh. Sometimes operating system corruption can get bad enough to where it is the only option left.

so a repair install will rename my old C:\windows to C:\windows.old then right? and it will freshly install windows to a new C:\windows?

No no.... a repair install reinstalls windows on top of itself in the same folder it was in before without killing the registry data, leaving your programs intact.
