User Account settings
I turned off the User Account in Vista Home premium. How can I get rid of the annoying message that pops up on the task bar telling me that I should check my security settings, user accountis turned off?

Start up regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center
Create a DWORD key named: UacDisableNotify .. double click on it to change the value to 1 |

OK, I did that (if I did it right) I still get the red shield with the X on it and a pop up that says check your security settings. What next?

Install Windows 7 when it comes out? The UAC will be multi-tiered...not just on or off. Otherwise, I would Google the problem.

You can change the way the Security Center notifies you too. Open the security center and look off to the left. You can choose "Don't notify me and don't disply the icon (not recommended)"

Win.7 is not a fix because it isn't released yet and even then I need to wait untill they have drivers for my Sierra Wireless connection card(no old fashioned wired phones in my house)
Thanks PR for good advice. I'll do that. trulad |
